The real difference

No account. No server. Just your places.

Trouvailles keeps everything in its own format, on your own devices — synced privately between your Mac and iPhone through your own iCloud, never a shared backend. Share a place (or a whole selection) with someone through the ordinary share sheet, and if they use Trouvailles too, it recreates itself on their end with position, tags and notes intact — no invite, no sign-up, no third party in between.

Privacy

No account, no server, no tracking.

Trouvailles has no account and no server of its own. Your places, tags, notes, ratings and photos stay in the app's own format, on your device and (if you enable it) your own iCloud — never a Kinevia backend. No analytics, no ads, no third-party SDKs.

Location
To search and sort by distance, and to add a place at your position. Background location only powers the optional, off-by-default “notify when nearby” alerts — for the places you choose, nothing else.
Contacts
Opt-in, to show your contacts' addresses as pins on the map. Never saved as places, never synced or sent anywhere.
Maps & search
Apple Maps or OpenStreetMap for the map (your choice on iPhone, iPad and Mac); address search uses Apple's MapKit on those, and OpenStreetMap's Nominatim on Android — queried directly, not through a Kinevia server.
Photos
Added to a place stay in the app's own storage and your iCloud sync only — never uploaded elsewhere.
Sharing
Only when you use the share sheet yourself — nothing sent in the background.
Your data
Export everything to one file anytime, or delete the app to remove it all — nothing left behind on any server, because there isn't one.
